127 Ministries has been a dream for over 15 years. In 2008 Josh Larsen (founder) started to volunteer for the Orphan Justice organization in Missouri. Through this organization Josh had the opportunity to work with the founder's family (Derek and Renee Loux).
Derek and Renee Loux
In 2009 Derek Loux died in a car accident leaving Renee and their 12 kids behind. While Josh did not know Derek for long, Derek once said "Adoption is redemption, it is costly, exhausting, and outrageous. Buying back lives costs so much. When God set out to redeem us, it killed him." This statement has stuck with Josh over the years.
127 Ministries (the name) comes from James 1:27 (Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress) and Psalm 127
(Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves. Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their opponents in court.)
In 2013 Josh married Abby and they have been working in various minstry positions since then but have always had a heart for adoption and foster care. In 2024 they decided to start 127 Ministries to help equip and encourage families.
